Experience About Teaching History

About a month ago, my English teacher, Mam Agnes gave us a chance to be a history teacher. At first I felt very confused and dissapoinment because we must taught history to be an interested lesson. As we know that history is a very bored lesson and almost every student dislike this lesson, include me. Mam Agnes divided us into a small group that contain two persons for each groups. I and my partner, Garry chose “Cold War” as our subtopic, but we found that many groups(around five groups) used the same topic. So we discussed this problem to Mam Agnes and she gave us a solution that we could chose some events from this subtopic because cold war had so many events when it was happened. And finally, i and Garry chose “The Cuban Missile Crisis” as our topic because we have searched in internet and this topic was one of the most dangerous event which happened in cold war.

When it was started, i and Garry didn’t get first chance so we can saw other groups method and the responses of our friends. We felt so nervous.Why? Because it was difficult to handle the whole class and my classmates looked so bored and didn’t interested with the topic. Some students did another activities like sleep, talked with their friends etc. They only interested with videos and games,not with the material. So I and Garry thought how to made our teaching didn’t get bored. We have found many methods but it seems bored, so i and Garry waited or watched other groups method that made my classmates interested with that. But previous groups before my group used almost same methods like only used presentation, combined presentation and whiteboard or just whiteboard to taught us. But i and Garry couldnt find better method to made our classmates interested.

When Mam Agnes chose my group to taught history on next meeting  and we only had 30 minutes to taught, we felt so confused because we haven’t found better method. But because we have to taught on the next meeting, so we did the best as we can like made the summary which could be easily understood by our friends, made the best method that we thought our friends would interested and many more.

And the day has come. When we taught, as usual about ¾ my classmates didn’t pay attention to us and we were so nervous. Because i  were so nervous, sometimes i forgot what i have to explained and our classmates made so much noise. And finally we couldn’t finished taught our subtopic and we scared that we would get remidial because our performance was bad.

And that was happened, there were 2 groups who have to get remidial, one of that is my group. I and Garry were confused because of that, but we tried to made our performance get better. And when we finished our remidial, we thought that we have tried the best as we can.

From this task, i just realized that became a teacher isn’t easy as i thought. We need patient when we see our students didn’t pay attention to us. Not only that, if we can’t make ourselves calm, we will get depressed to control our class and we have to think and think how to make our study become interesting as students want.
